Employment Types

Provision of Care: 

​• Follow participant's support plan.​

• Implement personal hygiene and infection control.

• Be alert to participant distress or apathy.​​

• Record strategies and practices as required.

Work Practices:

​• Perform initial evaluations and develop customised plans.​

• Assess physical conditions and formulate treatment plans.

• Conduct complex mobilisation techniques and assist trauma participants.

• Educate on injury prevention and healthy lifestyles.​​

​• Plan and organise physiotherapy and fitness programs.​

​• Monitor progress and modify plans as needed.

​• Refer participants to other healthcare professionals.

​• Liaise with healthcare professionals as part of a health management team.

​• Incorporate Child Safe Standards and report risks of harm.

Communication:

​• Communicate clearly, inclusively, and respectfully.​

• Adapt to participant's age, culture, and cognitive ability.

• Avoid jargon and use appropriate communication tools.

• Be persistent, patient, and address communication barriers.

Building Relationships:

​• Build mutual respect and trust.​

• Prioritise participant's voice and treat them equally.

• Recognise and report any safety threats.

Rights:

​• Support participants in expressing views, raising concerns,

and reporting incidents.​

• Seek permission before entering spaces or touching participants.

• Respect privacy and seek permission before collecting or sharing information.

Collaboration:

​• Work collaboratively with the support team.​

• Recognise the participant's skills and contributions.

• Keep participants informed and focus on their strengths.

Observation and Flexibility:

​• Review notes and plan data.​

• Identify needs and strategies.

• Be observant, attentive, and present.

• Celebrate participant achievements and promote independence.

Health and Safety:

​• Respond quickly to participant discomfort or health issues.​

• Conduct and complete risk assessments.

• Identify and report any work health and safety issues.

Service Quality:

​• Seek and act on participant feedback.​

• Support participants in understanding health and wellbeing information.

• Identify opportunities for increased independence.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

Qualifications / Requirements

• Relevant degree in Physiotherapy and full AHPRA registration.
• Knowledge of disability-related legislation and policies.
• Current Worker Screening.
• NDIS Induction Module completion.
• Membership with the Psychology Board of Australia (recommended).
• Continuing education courses.
