The NDIS Workforce Capability Framework describes this role as a General Support Worker for NDIS-funded services. Responsibilities include following strategies in the participant's support plan and promoting participant-focused practices that respect their choices, rights, and decisions.
Job Description
• Current Worker Screening and WWCC (if required)
• First Aid Certificate

• Relevant experience or Certificate III in Individual Support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services, Disability Work, or similar

General Tasks:
​• Review participant's required tasks before starting​
• Implement hygiene and infection control procedures
• Adjust tasks to meet participant's needs and preferences
• Record work as per organisation's requirements​​
Work Practices:
​• Assist with daily activities and personal hygiene​
• Perform home tasks such as food preparation and housework
• Undertake tasks outside the home like shopping
• Ensure varied social activities​​
​• Provide emotional support and friendship​
• Apply Child Safe Standards
• Report any risks of harm
Communication:
​• Communicate clearly, inclusively, and respectfully​
• Adapt to participant's age, culture, and cognitive ability
• Use the best communication methods
